About Me
Hi! I’m Yvonne, mom to an awesome, curious and creative 6-year-old ;)
I’m a former early childhood educator with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Administration, and I currently work as Assistant Director of a nonprofit early childcare center. I coordinate daily operations, support teachers, partner with families, and think deeply about how to support the natural development of children.
The credibility behind my articles stems from years of experience in early childhood - as a teacher, administrator, and parent. I’ve seen the struggles families face and the pressure they put upon themselves to align with other’s experiences: “We potty trained in just one weekend and they’re completely dry!” or “Cry-it-out finally worked and we get a full night of sleep now!”. With this blog, I encourage you to question such common concepts, think critically, and perhaps even go against the stream.
My perspectives are influenced by my German upbringing and my experience with both European and U.S. early childhood philosophies. Seeing these two worlds side-by-side has given me a broader lens on how culture shapes the way we raise and educate young children - and why some approaches honor their needs more than others.
Outside of early childhood, you’ll find me watching my daughter dance, create and grow, enjoying quiet moments with our cats Miko and Numi and an iced latte, and staying endlessly curious about what to learn next.
